Training at MNMR

Students at NMR workshop

Practical NMR Workshop

MNMR offers workshops in the practical aspects of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. Whether you are considering NMR as a research tool in your lab, or you would like to learn more about the technique in general, these workshops address practical aspects of experimental NMR and provide valuable experience.

Held concurrently with BIOC 5225 (graduate) and 4225 (undergraduate) courses, attendees will gain hands-on experience operating high-field NMR spectrometers, as well as training in basic NMR theory, sample preparation, experiment selection and optimization and data processing. The typical schedule for a 4-day workshop is as follows:

Day 1– MNMR Intro and Policies, NMR Basics, 1D NMR acquisition, optimization and data processing
Day 2 – Relaxation, Homonuclear 2D NMR acquisition and data processing
Day 3 – Selective 1D NMR experiments, Heteronuclear 2D NMR acquisition and data processing
Day 4 - Triple Resonance NMR, other topics

Other topics include an introduction to advanced topics, depending on the interests of the attendees. These topics may include, but are not limited to, protein structure and dynamics, metabolomics, solid-state NMR, high-throughput screening.

Completion of the workshop fulfills the requirements to gain access to MNMR.

2025 Workshop dates

January 13-16 (4-day, concurrent with BIOC 5225)
May 19-22 (4-day, concurrent with BIOC 4225)
