About MNMR

The Minnesota NMR Center is an internal service organization at the University of Minnesota that makes high-field nuclear magnetic resonance instrumentation available to researchers across the university.

The NMR center was originally known as the Structural Biology NMR Resource and located beneath the front lawn of Nils Hasselmo Hall. The proposed construction of the Green Line light rail line along Washington Ave threatened the operation of the instruments in that location. In 2010, construction began to renovate the former Mayo parking garage into a space to house high field NMR instruments.

To reflect its availability as a resource for a wide range of applications and as a regional technology hub it was renamed the Minnesota NMR Center and opened in its new location in 2012.
